How Our Thoughts Change Our Reality?
Today I want to invite you to make small experiment. About positive and negative thoughts.
As you probably know this saying: “We become what we think we ARE”. In other words, our thoughts do have impact on our behavior , our feelings and even body posture!
Let’s make this experiment.
Choose one negative thought, which first comes into your mind. For example, “I’m so unsuccessful” or “I’m so unhappy”, or “no matter what I start to do, nothing goes out as planned and I feel so helpless”. Choose any thought, what comes the first.
(By the way, it could be the same negative thought you unconsciously daily think about your life and yourself. By doing this experiment, you can become aware of the most destructive thought, which “lives” in you. And guess – what? You CAN change it. Replace with more uplifting thought. About ways, how to do it, we will talk at the end of this article.)
And try to notice what happens to your body. How it changes your body posture. How it changes your emotional state. How it affects your feelings. It will happen immediately. Just because of one negative thought. This reaction will follow instantly. First – thought, second – real changes in your emotional state you will experience immediately.
And now – choose one very positive thought, what instantly comes to your mind. (If nothing comes into your mind, choose the opposite affirmation of your previously negative one). For example, “I’m so successful” or “I’m so happy” or “no matter what I start to do, everything goes so smoothly and even better as I have planned”.
Again – observe your reaction – how this thought affects your emotional state, how it affects your body posture. Even you don’t believe, that it is true, anyway, repeat this thought to yourself loud and observe your body reaction, your feelings. It will change.
Inner feeling is completely different in the second case, isn’t? And those thoughts you think daily – do create your life.
Just thought itself creates huge consequences in us. It can make us more depressed, or take us out of depressed mood instantly.
That is the power of thoughts. Thought itself creates our reality even then, if it is just thought, with no evident prove about it happening in your real life. Just thought can bring you down or uplift you. Depends which thoughts you are thinking.
The neuroscience has proved it already, for brain is no difference – if event happens in real life, or we are thinking about it just in our thoughts. For our brain in both cases it is reality. Therefore affirmations, auto-suggestion works so well. For brain is no difference – it receives signal and it reacts to it.
How to get out of depressed mood? Choose your thoughts. Imagine them as real inhabitants in your mind. You can choose friendly ones, you can choose – destroying also.
And don’t be afraid of negative thoughts. While working with people – I have been asked a lot – what if negative thoughts come to my mind.
The answer is: don’t fight with them. Allow yourself to experience all emotions humans have to experience. We can’t be happy all the time. It is not humanly. Even in nature there is not always sun outside, sometimes days are cloudy, sometimes – rainy. After day night arrives. And we are part of nature, aren't we?
If someone try to live by just thinking positive thoughts, and try to split any negative thought away – it is NOT HEALTHY. It is pseudo -positive thinking. And that one is quite dangerous. As takes people completely away from reality. And in one moment it can end with serious anxiety or depression also.
But what you can choose – you can choose which thoughts dominate in your daily life. And even then, if negative ones come – you can try to find brightness in those thoughts also. Don't run away from negative thoughts. Allow yourself to feel what you feel. Don't lie to yourself that you are happy if you ARE NOT. But it is your responsibility - what you will choose for yourself to live life which is more in harmony with yourself. You can find the path out.
As you know – nothing in this world is just “white” or “black”. This world is colorful. Don’t forget about other colors also.
